nick - 'nik, noun - a notch or groove cut into or exisiting in a thing
nickname - 'nik-nam, noun - a usually descriptive name given instead of or in addition to the one belonging to a person, place, or thing
Ever see a person's nick and wonder where the heck they came up with it? People ask me all the time, "What does 'jklafemme' mean, anyway?" That's why I started this page. This is the place to explain your nick to enquiring minds!
OK..me first..
JKLaFemme - JK (nickname in RL) La (the) Femme (femme)
**AZ**Denmo* - The AZ part stands for Arizonan, which is what I am
though I live in Nevada ( I lived in Arizona all but
one of my years).
As for the denmo part:
A long time ago, before I had the internet:
I was composing a letter to a company asking about
a demo I received from them. I didn't know it at the
time, but I had mispelled the word Demo. So I ran
spellcheck, and this was the only word that didn't
make sense to the computer. It stopped on it, and
this serendipity intrigued me so much (and made me laugh
so hard) I decided that once I got on the internet
this would be my handle.
Acrobetter - I came into acrophobia as Game Freak. That is self explanatory. Then I
watched all the other names and decided to settle down with Acrobetter
because, "I'm getting better at acro!" How's that for originality??
Love it, love you guys, love the rooms.
Really appreciate all the work someone did to give us this wonderful
pleasurable place!!
angel52 - i was born 12/18/74 ! iam a christmas baby i consider myself an angel i also lQQk like a angel! iam 23 but that# was taken : (
Agent WD40 - What can I say? I parody everything I can think of, so why not
Bond...James Bond, as agent 007. Yeah, I admit it, I do use that can of
WD40 a lot, to loosen up the keys on the keyboard. I've been clocked at 2.4
on a 3 letter acro before.
ainz - Well this is Acrophobia isn't it... so my nick is an honest to
goodness acronym!
Australian in New Zealand. Easy when you know it! and no
capitals to make it
quicker and easier to type. I have been wondering if people are
pronouncing it
like anus though.... that could be a problem!
Alec Trevelyn - I just like the movie Goldenye and I couldn't get in James Bond as a nickname so I just put in AlecTrevelyn.
ALLISON99 - Allison is my real name and I'm a senior in
9T9..... Simply enough....... I also go by acrapps....... Crapps is my
last name....... I use both its just depends.... On how I feel that
day...
alpha3 - First of three in the family...That's all!
alpha3 - I am not an alien , though i have been known to turn green on occasion...hee hee
Altosax15<<ooba>> - I play the Alto saxophone, im 15 years old and (<<ooba>>)means im at peace :Þ
amarige - this is the name of my favorite perfume by de Givenchy, which
I was wearing the first day I stumbled across this wild and wacky and
wonderful wordgame, and when asked for a nick, the fragrance just popped
right through my nose into my brain, and it has been my name ever since!
anjuliz - people think it's "anjeweleeez", but it's actually pronounced "angel eyes"
alleghany - I picked the acro nickname of alleghany because I grew up in the
Alleghany mountains of Virginia which is part of the Appalachian chain,
went to Alleghany County High School which is in the Alleghany
Highlands. Not to be confused with the Allegheny river in PA or
Allegheny NY. Down here we spell it with an "a".
A.T.S. - Acro for ...ADICTED TO SEX........Or at least thats what it used to be , then
I went to a 12 step program for that problem , now it's.......ALWAYS TALKING
SHIT.
AuroraLights - It started 3 years ago on Compuserve. I lived in the
Chicago area, and logged into C-Serve through Aurora, IL. Well, I met my
husband on C-Serve, and I needed a "real" nickname, so he came up with
AuroraLights because of my log-in, and I am the light of his life.
After I moved to Alaska to be with him, the name just stuck. And for
those of you that must ask, yes, I can spell borealis.
Aunti-Em - My acro name is Aunti-Em
When my grandaugter was small she was facinated with Wizzard of Oz
I read that story and sang the songs so many times, that she started
calling me Aunti-Em. Even tho now its Grandma, I still love the time we
had when she was small.
Baldwin - I picked this because of the movie CLUELESS where they call hot guys or "hottys" Baldwins and hot girls Bettys, well anyway thats what all the girls from here call me.
beverage - One time I was drinking a capuccino, when one of my friends came
into my room. He said, "Can I have a drink of that beverage?" I slightly
misunderstood what he said and thought that he called me "beverage". After
laughing about my misunderstanding, I used "beverage" as my nick in IRC,
and it stuck.
BigMike - my name came from my genetic blessings, my name is mike, and
mikep is ALWAYS taken.
BlueEyes1 - started out as tap (my initials). 2 dreary 2 have much fun, decided on BlueEyes, already taken, so added the 1. Blue is the color of my eyes, sounds friendly, and many people can relate. Never forget: The eyes are the windows to the soul. My eyes are friendly and soulful!!!
Bob the Mild - I'm not named Bob, and I'm not Mild either. I wanted
the name to be Bob the Mildy Amusing, but that didn't fit. This is just
as cool anyway.
The Breeze - Im The Breeze. Im here and gone like the wind. Nuff said.
Breeze66 - my mother called me princess of the windy blowers when i was a
child, i thaught it was a little long for a nick, so i came up with the
next best thing. 66 is simply the year i was born. People ask me what my
nick is all about, when i tell them, they always have a comment about
flatulence
Britmum - so named, because I grew up in Britain, and ... you guessed it! I'm
a "mum!"
buffalo jill - I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and love the Buffalo
Bills! I used to be bflobill, but everyone thought I was a
guy, so changed I changed it to buffalo jill !
Buggy - Buggy? Well it was 1984 and this new phenomenon, BBSs, were sweeping
the country. I needed a nickname, something that would allow a somewhat
outlandish personality. I happened to note a comic book on my desk with
a character named Ambush Bug, so took that name. And kept that name,
but eventually shortened it to Buggy. And that's.......... the rest of
the story.
Busty1 - it started out as an innocent nickname for another online
game I played. All the other nicks I wanted were taken, and after a
1/2hr or more of trying to get one to work, I jokingly thru this one in
thinking it wouldnt take either, but it did. And yes, I am rather
'endowed' and always have been, so I guess "if you've got it flaunt it".
but they are NOT all that I am, so please talk to me for the fun person
I am.:) Now lets go ACRO. :)
capecodder - Location- Cape Cod, Massachusetts/ Favorite cocktail- Vodka and
cranberry juice!
CaptBlood - Peter Blood was a retired soldier-of-fortune, happily resigned to
the peaceful pasttime of small-town doctoring in England. He was arrested
for tending to a wounded rebel. Blood was deemed guilty despite his plea
of innocence and carted off with the rebels to be a slave in colonial
Jamaica. A Spanish raid on the town distracted everyone long enough for
Blood to lead the slaves to freedom - and on the Spaniard's galleon!
Captain Blood became a much feared name in the Carribean, with a
fierce cunning and a high moral code (for a pirate, anyway).
cats333 - I love cats & own 3 Himalayans. You can always catch me in Purple Haze room. If you want to see me and my adorable cats check out http://welcome.to/cats333
Catwoman18 - I chose this nick because when i play i feel like a cat in for the
attack! The 18 is just because it is my Favorite #!!!
Caz` - its a play on my real name, Carrie.....it seems in good ole
Blighty they like to shorten your name and put a zed on the end - so my
b/f called me 'Caz' one day and ever since then its stuck with me....is
one of my main online nicks. The ` on the end of my nick has no
specific meaning..... its just there to annoy/deter those who would
attempt to private message me during Acro meets and online chats ;)
Chadzilla - Mine's easy enough to figure out. It's a variation of Godzilla. I once
worked with a chap named Chad. We used to kid around calling him
"Chadzilla". He was a big guy with a long neck, sort of looked like a
human version of "Godzilla". I thought it was hilarious, so when
presented with the challenge of selecting a nick, this was the first
thing that popped into my head. There you have it.
Charlie b. - well I like Charlie Brown (on Peanuts) and it was taken, so I put
Charlie b. instead!
chipps - his name is Chip, he eats chips, he works with chips..he's a chip monopoly!
Chordata - Chordata is the phylum of mammals that, at some life stage, have a notochord, gill slits, and dorsal nerve cord. In other words, chordates have backbones. I am a big science nerd and I've been told my backbone is pretty darn strong, so voila'.
cherequi - i am 1/2 cherekee and 1/2 irish, but i am very proud of my heritage. cherekee and cherokee was already taken ,so i went with cherequi. my friends call me cher (my fave singer/actress) or cherry (selfexplanatory...Evil Grin), or just plain qui-qui
Cigonee - Hey i was Elane off of the Sienfeld show, i spelt it wrong but then this
queer was like thats whate Ellen and Anne call themselves Ellanne i was
like ugh so i changed it to the name of the horse i ride which is Cigone
but i also spelled it wrong so i'm Cigonee. My best friend still calls me
Elane but thats okay i just didn't want people to think i'm queer, by the
way my acro buds are mainly diff. people each time but also EMTDude,
fireling, and Mart plus Runnin' Blue.
Cinti - is short for Cincinnati, and so am I!!!
Clydskid - everyone calls me Clyde but Clyde was my dad and I am a
female. Though I am 46 years old when he died 2 years ago I realized
that the greatest accomplishment and biggest pride in my life was being
"Clyde's kid". Nothing else was ever as important. So this is my way
of honoring him. I am clydeskid and my sister is the Pride of Clyde.
Can you tell he was deeply loved?
codymaxx - Cody & Maxx, two of our three cats
Collective - of Borg fame. The Star Trek Borg act one in the show and that's how my family and I approach the game. WE ARE MANY ... WE ARE ONE.
Consequences - In college, me and a friend entered into a charity tag-team jello
wrestling contest. His nickname at the time (and still is) "The
Truth." I, in turn became "The Consequences," thus making us "Truth and
Consequences." The name stuck. Besides, it's a hell of a lot better than any
derivation of my real name (Scott), which is ALWAYS, ALWAYS taken.
Croooow - I got my handle from the tv show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (My favorite show). Crow is the name of the gold colored robot on the show. To avoid people from thinking I named myself the Crow from the "The Crow" and "The Crow: City of Angels" I chose to spell his name the same way they've done it the past 9 or so years on the show's opening theme robot roll call. That's with 4 o's and the exclamation mark. In about five months only a handful of people know exactly what I'm talking about. These people are known as Mysties.
Cynthe - My mom's name is Cynthia and I've always found that to be a pretty name. And Cynthe just seemed to have an unusual look to it, so... voila. Cynthe.
DaiNG - In my country it is a Fish dish... what kind
of fish? well i prefer milkfish and its marinated in garlic and
vinegar.. TASTY! YUMMY! you can either fry 'em or grill 'em... story to
this is one time i woke up craving for one and since its a national dish
(philippine dish) i miss it here in the US.. well thats about it...
Darkessand - i got it from dark+goddes-god. i usually say
darkness-n though
Deuce x2 - The Deuce part comes from when I was a member at LaserQuest (it's a REALLY big laser tag game, and lots of fun)- Deuce was my nickname there. The x2 was added when Deuce was already taken from the Acro list. Once I started to Acro a lot, the x2 stuck. But why did I choose Deuce in the first place? Deuce is my favorite Alien Power in the game Cosmic Encounter; not only is the power wicked, the aliens' drawing looks cool, too!
Diamond_Girl - My nickname used to be gem_girl on irc (Gemini was taken), but in acro, people decided to start asking me if i were truly outrageous. Tiring of that easily, I changed it to Diamond_Girl. Works for me!
Dog Mommy - have 3 dogs--cocker spaniel/border collie mix (boudreau), german shepherd/chow mix (cj), & siberian husky (keemo). They are like my kids (which have all grown up & moved out) so I'm a dog mommy. My friends say when they die they want to come back as my dog hehehehe. I used to use the user name: tuinei but wanted to try something different. Tuinei was my maiden name. I emailed you today saying I was going to change to samoan princess, but only samoanprince shows & i'm not a prince, so changed it to dog mommy.
Dr No - Quite simply, Bond........ James Bond
dsquared - My real name is David Dixon, initials DD, or D-squared. I
usually go on IRC as "D^2" but when I signed up for Acro, it wouldn't let
me use the ^, so I just spelled it out. That's okay, I don't caret all.
EJetson - Several years ago, while playing some computer game that asked for you to enter a name for your character, I didn't know what to enter. I was watching the Jetsons on TV and decided that Elroy Jetson was as good as any. I've used it ever since. My ISP only allows up to 8 letters, so I shortened it to EJetson.
Electric - A lot of years ago, some of my meaner friends thought my style of dancing looked like some (twisted) kind of moonwalk. Hence a nickname they tormented me with for years - Electric Boogie Ericsson. Too long, of course and it was soon shortened to Electric, which sounds kind of strange, considering our native tongue is swedish.....
EMZ ONE - My initals are M.M., so two M's sounds like EMZ. And since i'm
the greatest, i'm number ONE.
Erica - I got my name from Erica Kane, the soap diva who
was nominated every year for the best performer and yet never won.
My sister says the name sounds bery b*tchy...so I used it.
Exploder2 - Well, about a year ago I began playing a game called MultiPlayer
BattleTech. I was very good at it. Before long, after killing people,
I began the tradition of dropping a bomb on them, making it the last
thing they see before leaving battle. Therefore, I was nicknamed
Exploder because I blew things up all the time.
But alas, Exploder was not to last long. In an 8 person melee, Exploder
was surrounded by the other 7. He destroyed 4 of them
before each of the 4 others fired all of their weapons at the same time,
summarily burning Exploder to a crisp and rendering him unable to reach
MultiPlayer Battletech for a long while.
But all rejoiced, because Exploder was mysteriously cloned by a genius
whom no one knows. So here stands today Exploder2.
Quite a story, eh? =)
Better than any Portuguese metal band, anyway. ;)
Fab Fubar - This is a name that I've been using on the internet all over. A
while ago I had the word Fubar in my head, not because I've seen Tango &
Cash (which I haven't) or been in the armed forces (which I haven't). I
eventually made a comic book character called The Fabulous FUBAR, but
Acrophobia wouldn't let me use it (too long). So now it's just Fab Fubar,
but you can call me Fubar
The_Faust - When we owned comic books stores, one of my favorite comic
series was Faust. On IRC, the name Faust was really popular, so I
started using The_Faust.
Fermisht - means "mixed-up" in yiddish. I thought that
would be a pretty appropriate name to use sense I'm jewish, quite
confused(look at some of my acros!) and hardly anyone knows what it
means!
1 FineFemale - It's not that i'm conceited.. cuz i'm FAR from that!.. It happened when we first got on the 'net', my roomie and i each had our own handles and then when we were on together.. we were 2 FineFemales.. My individual handle wuz Molson. But everyone thought I wuz a guy.. soooooo... I went with 1 Fine, and the rest is history. lol.
Finesse - When I was in high school that is a name that I got from somewhere
and now when ever I need to use a nickname that is the one I use.
fishoon - My nickname is my nickname for a stork. One time my friend and I saw this stork flying in the woods (or we think it was a stork) and we said, "Look it has a big fish in it's mouth (it was about 4 feet). My friend insisted that it was just some balloon or something. To this day when we tell stories about it, we still refer to it as...fishoon.
foXXtail - I love foxes tails, so fluffy. I wanted a name that sounded cute, but not "squshy sweet" cute.
g--anon - g-anon = anonymous girl
Gandolph - Gandolph is my husband. He wanted his own identity for Acro and he was
listening to Jethro Tull's "The Wizard's Birthday" at the time, and he thought Gandolph was a pretty cool name for a Wizard, so he used it. By the way, his name is NOT from the Tolkien books, although he says if he'd thought of it he would have used that one.
Ghost1 - Well, I got this name when I used to manage a laser tag arena. I played so much and got so good at hiding from people and shooting them when they had no idea where I was, that they started to call me the "Ghost". I decided that it was pretty cool for a nick but someone already had Ghost so I added a 1 to it, hence Ghost1.
Gimme3Steps - NAME of my favourite Lynyrd Skynyrd song...also my Yahoo Chat nickname.
Googlemuck - This is the nick The_Faust and Pashtet use most often and
it means both or either of us. It's a combination of google and muck,
two silly words that we came up with in a state of drunken newlywed
bliss long ago as pet names for each other's privates. It happened so
long ago (1977), who knows which is which?!! It's the silliness factor
we like now.
Green_I's - I have green eyes, they have always been the opener for
conversation with everyone I meet - makes sense to carry it with me into the acro chat
rooms!
Hen3ry - is from a comedian/math professor popular in the 1960's named Tom Leher. Most famous for the song "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park", Tom says in one part of his act: "I have a friend named Hen3ry, the three is silent you see". I would have liked to have been Tom's friend.
Hockey_Freak - I like hockey. I freak out over it. I guess that makes me a
Hockey_Freak. The freak part doesn't mean I have 11 fingers or 3 eyes like
some people sometimes jokingly comment in the chat box, it just means that
I freak out over hockey. I'll end it here....... gotta go watch the
Leafs/Canadiens game...
husband&wife - isn't it obvious?
